Detailing over 30 years of audio and video obsession
Junk Mail Galaxy
Junk Mail Galaxy was a video podcast about direct marketing, hosted by Nathan White and Michael T. Foy. There were seventeen episodes recorded between 2006 and 2007. Nate and Mike mostly used the show as an excuse to blow off steam about direct mail and direct marketing, while boldly and deliberately drinking their way through each episode.
And drinking.
And drinking some more!

We’re still hopelessly lost in the Junk Mail Galaxy. Are you? The start of this episode features a quick piece about Matthew Maloney, the son of Liz Maloney, who Nathan and I have worked with. Another great episode featuring direct mail news. Stay for the show closing and our friend Steve playing some mean piano blues (originally released 3/3/2008).

Junk Mail Galaxy Episode 006: Merge/Purge and Fun with Nigerian Scammers | PlaybackShack.com

(Originally released Feb. 26, 2008) In this episode, we finally reveal the third host of Junk Mail Galaxy. You may have heard her voice in episode 001, but now, you’ll see the beauty that is… Gigi. Mike reports on New Hampshire’s bill HB-1506, which sought to create a “do not mail” list in that state. Nathan touches on the existence of a similar service from the DMA, called the Mail Preference Service (MPS), then sheds some light on the data processing procedure known as a “Merge/Purge.” Mike’s so-called “screw-up of the week” is from Bank of America, who offered him a New York Giants-themed credit card via email. Mike is a diehard Eagles fan. Nate delivers another callback to episode 001, as he shows off a mail piece from Columbia House proclaiming HIM “The Boss.” Scoreboard update: Mike ludicrous potential lawsuits 2, direct marketers 0. Through MySpace, all the way from Nigeria, a Ms. J.J. William wrote to us. Is it the delicious bottle of The Tanner’s Jack that possesses Mike to refer to Nigeria as “the country of scammers?” Maybe it’s the incredibly tasty bottle of Obolon that convinces Nate to call Mike a 300 pound hunchback. Shameless beer consumption abounds. The music featured in this episode is “Stalker” by Colin Macintyre, courtesy of the Podsafe Music Network at music.podshow.com and Colin Macintyre at http://www.colinmacintyre.com. As the song plays out the show, don’t miss fun pics and footage of Mike and his son Aidan at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA, where the boys recently viewed the Franklin’s exhibit “Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination.”
